Bhakti runs no charitable programme today. We have collected no donations, funded no work, and partnered with no organisation. Everything on this page is intention, written in the future tense on purpose. If you came here looking for a total raised or a number of people helped, there is not one, and we will not manufacture one.
नर सेवा, नारायण सेवा।
Nar seva, Narayan seva — to serve a person is to serve the Divine.
Seva is the oldest answer Hinduism gives to the question of what devotion is for. Not charity performed from above, and not a transaction with the divine — simply work done for someone else without expectation, on the understanding that the one served and the one serving are not finally separate.
It is also the part of Indian religious life that has always been practical. The temple kitchen. The water pot left at the roadside in Jyeshtha. The langar that does not ask your name or your caste before it feeds you. These are not add-ons to the faith; for a great many people they are the faith, expressed in the only currency that never lies about itself.
An app that helps someone keep a devotional day, and then stops there, has done something small and left the larger half undone. We do not want to build that. But we also do not want to announce a seva we have not begun, because a claimed good deed spends credibility that the eventual real one will need.

A share, set aside
A fixed share of what Bhakti earns, committed to seva rather than to whatever is left over at the end of a year. The figure will be published here when the mechanism to honour it exists.

Work we can stand behind
Small, verifiable, and near the practice itself — annadaan, temple upkeep, support for the people who keep shrines that no trust looks after. Chosen with people who already do this work, not invented by us.

Accounts anyone can read
What came in, where it went, and what it did — published in full, including the parts that go badly. An unaudited good intention is just marketing with a conscience.
